DIY picture frame enough to make any parent swoon

Make colourful picture frame made with ice-cream sticks and love will have any parent smiling from ear to ear!

Handmade gifts are always filled with extra care. Spoil your dad with this crafty picture frame that he’ll cherish forever. He might even brag to his friends and show it off on his desk at work!

YOU WILL NEED 

• 8 wood ice-cream sticks (washed and dried) 
• A photograph of you and your dad 
• Thin cardboard (like a cereal box) 
• A pair of scissors 
• A pencil 
• Glue stick 
• White craft glue 
• Acrylic craft paint 
• Wool or string  
• Sticky tape 

 CAUTION 

Always ask an adult to help you when using scissors or any other sharp tools. 

HOW TO MAKE IT 

STEP 1: Stack your ice-cream sticks into four pairs. Arrange them in a square shape. 

STEP 2: Place your photo under the square to see if it fits inside – you can trim the edges of the photo using scissors or adjust the size of the square. 

STEP 3: Glue the sticks together (using the craft glue) in the shape of a frame. 

STEP 4: Once it is dry, paint your frame using your favourite colours, then leave it near a window to dry. 

STEP 5: Use a pencil to trace the outline of the frame onto cardboard, then cut this cardboard shape out. (It should be slightly bigger than the photo.) 

STEP 6: Glue your photo onto the cardboard shape, using the glue stick. 

STEP 7: Turn the frame upside down and glue the photo in place, applying craft glue only to the edges of the cardboard. (This will form the ‘back’ of the frame.) 

STEP 8: Cut a piece of wool or string, make a loop and glue or tape it to the top of the back of the frame for it to hang.

• Buttons 
• Paper cut-outs 
• Felt shapes 
• Glitter 
• Stick-on stars 
• Washi tape
